What vehicles are available?

Currently we provide SUVs, estate cars and hatchbacks. Larger 9-seat vehicles are not currently part of our fleet however bookings of multiple cars can be made on our app by selecting the number of passengers that are in your party. 4 ppl - 1 car. 5 ppl - 2 cars. 9 ppl - 3 cars.

For many airport journeys, an SUV or estate vehicle is typically used. As a guide, 4 passengers with 1 suitcase and 1 backpack each would usually make a full car. If you have extra luggage, bulky items, mobility equipment, or any unusual item, please contact Woodham Taxi before booking so we can assess the correct vehicle. We do not transport large or heavy furniture, and all vehicle doors must be able to close fully before departure.

Woodham Taxi monitors the flight number supplied for airport collections. Please provide your flight number in the “Additional Info” section when placing your airport transfer booking to help avoid unnecessary pickup delays. Once you have landed, cleared passport control, collected your luggage, and are ready for collection, call 0333 00 66 331 so your driver can meet you at the airport’s designated pickup area.

Please tell Woodham Taxi about any accessibility needs, mobility equipment, extra luggage, or unusual pickup requirements before booking. Use the booking app to enter passengers, suitcases, foldable walkers or wheelchairs, and non-foldable walkers or wheelchairs before requesting a taxi. If your driver needs to park or meet you in a specific place, add this in “Additional Info” before requesting the taxi. Journey acceptance depends on vehicle suitability, available space, and whether the booking requirements can be safely met.

Driver onboarding guidance

Before starting, drivers will usually need:

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate.
A completed Green Penny classroom course.
A Green Penny taxi driving assessment.
A Medical D4.
A Private Hire Vehicle Licence or Dual Licence application through Maldon District Council.
Access to a suitable licensed private hire vehicle.

Job Summary

Woodham Taxi Ltd is seeking reliable, professional, self-employed Private Hire Vehicle drivers to work primarily on Friday and Saturday evenings and nights in South Woodham Ferrers and the surrounding areas.

This is a flexible, freelance owner-driver opportunity with no fixed working hours. Drivers can choose when they start and finish work and may make themselves available according to their own preferences.

Drivers retain 80% of the fares from the bookings they complete.

Applicants must provide their own suitably licensed private hire vehicle. Estate cars and SUVs are preferred because they can accommodate passengers, luggage and airport-transfer bookings more effectively.

Duties

Safely transport passengers to their requested destinations.
Provide a polite, reliable and professional service.
Work primarily during Friday and Saturday evening and nighttime periods.
Accept and complete suitable bookings made available through Woodham Taxi Ltd.
Plan routes effectively to minimise unnecessary delays.
Assist passengers with luggage, boarding or leaving the vehicle when appropriate.
Keep your vehicle clean, presentable, safe and roadworthy.
Comply with all applicable private hire licensing requirements, road traffic laws and insurance conditions.
Communicate clearly with passengers and Woodham Taxi Ltd regarding collections, destinations and delays.
Represent Woodham Taxi Ltd professionally while completing bookings.

Requirements

Applicants must:

Hold a valid UK driving licence.
Hold a valid Private Hire Driver Licence.
Provide their own suitably licensed Private Hire Vehicle.
Maintain valid hire-and-reward insurance and all other legally required vehicle documentation.
Have clear spoken English and good English listening and comprehension skills.
Be reliable, punctual, professional and customer-focused.
Be able to use a smartphone for receiving booking information, navigation and communication.
Have good knowledge of South Woodham Ferrers and the surrounding areas, or be able to navigate them confidently.
Keep their vehicle clean, comfortable and in good working order.
Be available primarily for Friday and Saturday evening or nighttime bookings.

Preferred Applicants

Preference may be given to drivers who:

Live in South Woodham Ferrers or nearby.
Know South Woodham Ferrers and the surrounding areas particularly well.
Own an estate car or SUV.
Have previous private hire, taxi, chauffeur or professional driving experience.
Have experience completing airport transfers, event transport or long-distance bookings.

Earnings and Flexibility

Drivers retain 80% of the fares from completed bookings.
There are no fixed working hours.
Drivers can choose when they start and stop accepting work.
The role is offered on a freelance, self-employed owner-driver basis.
Friday and Saturday nights are the primary periods for which drivers are required.
